“You will be tired, but it’s a good tired. It’s a different tired. And it doesn’t last forever”

Landon is already over 1 week old.

He had his first appointment with the pediatrician yesterday and he did amazing. He has gained even more weight. He is up to 5 lbs 8 ounces. His starting weight was 5 lbs 15 ounces, but while in the hospital he dropped 10 percent of his weight. This is a normal occurance in newborns, but since he started so small it necessitated a medical reason to supplement him with formula until my milk came in. We woke him every 1 or 2 hours for feedings and it worked. The doctor said he should be back to his birth weight in just a few days and no more need to wake him so often for feedings..which means more sleep for us. My milk is coming in now, so he should be off of the formula in no time. The main goal for this appointment was to see that he had gained weight and his pediatrician was pleasantly surprised by how well he was doing.

They also checked all of his reflexes and motor skills. He can use his legs to push himself all the way up, he can grip with both hands, his eyes are good. The pediatrician seemed very impressed by him. She actually said, "he is perfect."

The biggest news is that when she was listening to his heart she said that the murmur sounds very small. She said that she thinks it has to have become smaller since his ultrasound at the hospital. In her opinion it could even be closed by his cardiologist appointment next week. I don't want to get my hopes up, but it did lift a weight off of my shoulders for now.

We took him to Target afterwards for our first outing with him since it was so early in the morning that no one was out yet and we found that he likes to be pushed in the cart so we have to keep it moving and he also falls completely asleep everytime he is in the car.

Today, Landon was circumsised...eeeek! The poor thing. Matt and I stayed in the room with him. We had the option to leave, but figured that if anyone could give him the most comfort it would be us. I held his hand and he held my finger during the whole thing. It's all over with and now he just has to heal. He weighed 5 lbs 9 ounces, so he is still gaining consistently.

NOW, I would like to dedicate the rest of this blog to my C-Section:

F-You!

F-You!

F-Yoooouuu!

Whew, I feel better now.
